The team
Behind the Lore is currently run by one person: Bat (Baptiste Colombani). Opening the project to external contributors (native EN reviewers, scientific reviewers) is planned from V2 onwards, once a stable publishing cadence is reached.
Bat — founder, lead writer
Software engineer trained at Université de Montpellier (M2 AIGLE), entrepreneur in Corsica. Manga reader since adolescence, curious about the science the works reference. The site exists to turn pop culture into a gateway to verifiable knowledge.
For now, Bat handles the entire editorial pipeline: episode breakdowns, scoping, AI drafting, fact-checking, editorial work, original diagrams. The English translation goes through tight self-review until mid-V2, then a native freelancer.
Expert reviewers (being recruited)
For sharp topics, Behind the Lore is gradually building a network of expert reviewers per discipline: chemistry, biology, medicine, metallurgy, physics, history of science. If you teach or do research in any of these and want to review one entry per month for a credit byline, please get in touch.
Native English contributors (V2+)
The English translation must be reviewed by a native English speaker to avoid Google US/UK penalties on raw AI translation. A freelance hire or community contributor is being recruited from late V1 / early V2. See the methodology.
Want to contribute?
Three ways to contribute today:
- Report an error or gap on an entry, via the "Report a problem" button at the bottom of every page. Verified corrections are versioned and the reporter is credited if they agree.
- Suggest a topic we missed in a covered episode, or a work we should add, via the contact page.
- Native-review English or contribute scientific expertise: write to contact, we'll set things up together.
