About us
Behind the Lore is an independent educational encyclopedia that connects real-world scientific knowledge to manga content. Our conviction: pop culture is a privileged entry point into verifiable knowledge, for those who know how to open it.
Our voice
Unified editorial voice, addressed to a curious readership that isn't afraid of a technical diagram but wants a clear explanation first. No hierarchy of levels (no "junior / advanced" variants): one entry per subject, progressive and self-contained, designed to stay readable without prerequisites.
Our method
Every entry goes through a 6-step editorial pipeline: episode breakdown, scoping, AI-assisted draft, non-negotiable human fact-check, editorial work with original diagrams, native-reviewed translation. AI proposes, humans decide — and every quantified claim must rest on at least two independent sources.
Independence
Behind the Lore is an independent publication. No intrusive ads, no behavioral tracking, no paywall on educational content. Funding relies on transparent contextual affiliate links and, eventually, our own editorial products (printable PDFs, thematic dossiers). No capital ties, no editorial pact with the rights holders of the works covered.
Disclaimer
Behind the Lore is neither affiliated with, endorsed by, nor sponsored by the rights holders of the works cited. All illustrations and diagrams on this site are original creations. Any links to print editions or streaming platforms may be affiliate links (see affiliate disclosure for details). No official manga panel is reproduced.
External scientific contributors
For specialized subjects, Behind the Lore is gradually building a network of expert reviewers by discipline: chemistry, biology, medicine, metallurgy, physics, history of science. If you teach or research in one of these fields and want to review an entry in exchange for a named credit, reach us via the contact page.
How to contribute
- Report an error or gap on an entry, via the "Report a problem" button at the bottom of each page. Accepted corrections are versioned and the contributor is credited if they agree.
- Suggest a subject missing from an already-covered episode, or propose a work to cover, via the contact page.
- Native English review or scientific expertise: write to the contact page, we'll figure out the framework together.
